watching the teacher write the basics in words on the black board, the
teacher turned around to face Fluder facing forward and stared intently.
Then he repeatedly bowed his head 90 degrees before reading back from
the textbook.

Nevertheless if I was forced to say the transformation method there
bears mentioning it’s uselessness for the higher of tiers magic of 4th
or more so it’s better to not include it for those. ”

Zeroth Tier, otherwise known as lifestyle magic (seikatsu) that was not very powerful. The magic was the warming up of a plate. It used up the same amount of magical power as 1st Tier magic, and saying it bluntly it was not a magic that was very useful. In this particular case a magic item which could heat up with a command word existed, but for someone who could not buy that magic item this magic could be somewhat useful. That was because you didn’t need to use any firewood.

The magical tier that Academy graduates reached was the 1st Tier for commoners. In the case of nobles they reached the second tier. Reaching the 3rd tier would require a considerably talented (sainou) or someone who put in an exhausting amount of work, or someone with incomparable amounts of talent (sainou). Around this area would be the limit of ordinary people and tiers beyond would require a genius (tensai). And in his case he had two teachers in the from of Nemeru and Arche, but he held little confidence in his talent (sainou).
“[Repair]” and with the invocation of Fluder’s magic there was a loud bang as the carriage began to move. Slowly the axle began to move and the wheel returned to it’s proper position. [Repair] was not recommended to be used frequently as it reduced the endurance limit [taikyuu genkai] somewhat. In a state of emergency though like in this case it was a very useful magic. In reality, Adventurers would often include at the very least one scroll with the spell. ...And then the situation turned to a conversation.

“You there, do you possess the [Repair] magic?” “... When people hear of magic that don’t know better they think of flashy things. That’s actually generally true for offensive magic. Certainly people are excited to see giant flaming spheres hurled or the travelling of lightning. Surely humans can even injure destructive monsters with such magic. But personally, I do not think this type of magic encompasses the full picture of magic, namely the magic associated with a comfortable life, livlihood [seikatsu] also exists. ”
Certainly Jet agreed with that.
Amongst offensive magic, [Fireball] was quite famous, but you wouldn’t think so but you couldn’t use such a magic to warm yourself up. Even if you tried to light kindling, if you weren’t careful you would end up charring them into nothing. [Acid Arrow], [Magic Arrow], [Lighting] were very similar in that regard.
“This is a type of magic with a broad range of use. That particular magic is often called Livelihood [seikatsu] Magic. In this specific case it is not it’s own unique system, just that it is used for many purposes and so it goes by many names. Personally it does not seem to be a very liked system, but I think people are mistaken if I take into consideration - Gefun. My apologies. I was about to go on a small tangent. Err let me see, Jet do you know of the magic [Floating Board]?” “Of course. We’ve studied it in our lessons of 1st Tier spells.”
“Is that so. That is a magic used to carry heavy things in construction sites. In that sense that’s a natural way to use it. Certainly the load limit varies based on the users capabilities. Maa, it’s easy enough to head over to a nearby town with it. ”
“Because magic is a compact with the world, once you become tied to that compact it becomes very difficult to change things to how you would like. However it would be very foolish to only learn offensive type magic. If your companions can damage the enemy shouldn’t you learn magic for other purposes? You should entrust that to warriors that hold swords. So what reason do mages have to exist given that context, what say you?”
Fluder’s line of sight returned to the mage affiliated with the Knights.
“You could deduce in that state of affairs that their purpose is to find the most suitable solution for a variety of situations. ”
“I quite agree. In our case when the carriage broke it can’t be helped the warriors have no way to solve that problem. In that case this should be the type of thing mages address. Certainly a warrior that was a craftsmen’s son could fix the carriage, but beyond that exception, it can’t be helped to learn magic to deal with situations like these. ”
“I want to emulate that. ”
The mage affiliated with the knights continued his speech.
“Although it seems difficult.”
“Though I say you have to adapt to many situations, there are a variety of scenarios. I think ti’s unreasonable to think you could do it perfectly. In the case a mage frequently learns offensive magic it’s impossible. You there Jet, you can use a few spells of the 1st Tier right? Don’t you think it would be foolish to only learn offensive magic?”
