i mean from another stand point, if WCIs don't work on anyone holding a WCI, doesn't that mean that a WCI won't work on its holder?
Conscious control allowances apply for some YGGDRASIL based abilities.
Ainz's Damage invalidation and Skeletal Dragon's Magic invalidation come
to mind. If World items are programmed similarly, if you want to be
under it's influence you will be.
“No! I won’t! I won’t let you!Ray of Negative Energy!”A beam of black light shone extended from Khazit’s hand and touched theSkeletal Dragon, quickly healing its injuries with negative energy.
“So it’s immune to magic, but it can be healed with magic.”Khazit ignored Narberal’s mockery and continued casting spells
[V2]
“―Your Majesty, Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. At the very end, pleaseshow me ― even if it is just a fraction ― of your true power. Allow me toexperience the zenith of might!”The Martial Lord forcefully brandished his weapon.“Really now... Very well. Then I shall reveal the pinnacle of power to you.”Ainz activated his skill, and strode forth. He entered the Martial Lord’s attack range. The Martial Lord swung down.It was completely different from the speed at which he had raised it. Hemight have used martial arts to accelerate it. Still, it was nothing compared tothe speed before he had his abilities penalized. It was far too slow. The club swung down on Ainz’s body, but Ainz paid it no heed. The attack could no longer harm Ainz’s body.Ainz walked through it, as though caressed by a gentle wind.
[V10]All or Nothing effects exist too that cut you off from beneficial and detrimental effects of a certain type.
As the name implied, the Circlet of Iron Will defended the mind againstcharm, fear, and other such mental attacks. Still, while the circlet rendered oneimmune to magical attacks, it could only strengthen the wearer’s resistanceagainst attacks derived from special abilities. Another thing she had to notewas that the circlet would also negate positive magical effects.
[V12]
Seems originally WORLD was an All or Nothing buff. It was retroactively allowed, well allowances based on conscious control.
Of course, the two of them had entered this oublietted segment of reality oftheir own volition. Normally speaking, World-Class Items could not affectholders of other World-Class Items, but it would be a different matter if thoseholders accepted that influence. All that was thanks to a patch from the devs.
[V11]
Still it is never described cancelling out it's own item usage. To my
memory no single person is described using two world class items at once
but Ainz sits on the Throne and wears his REDACTED of Momonga. Unless
you want to argue isekai quartet only happened because Ainz accidentally
disabled the guild's defense by sitting down on it's defensive world
class item while wearing another? There's also the debate whether WORLD protects you from just someone
using a World class item as just gear ie for melee for example. More
than likely, certain attacks, abilities, and broad areas of effect get
tagged as 'WORLD' in terms of effect priority. In that case it probably
follows the Skeletal dragon logic. Given it seems World Champion's can
defend against certain effects if timed correctly, and Wish Upon a Star
cannot undo certain effects, that supports the idea at least. WORLD
would consequently protect against WORLD tagged abilities.
Using Overlord's system logic, WORLD is probably categorized in the Attribute system. Just not a common one.
Using World Enemies for example, certain abilities of theirs ignored
racial immunities and the like. In terms of programming it maes more
sense to say WORLD is probably a prioritized Attribute than a Effect
Priority in that case.
WORLD would probably protect against any WORLD atributes you don't want.
ie Post patch.
eg it's the Skeletal Dragon nullification discrimination.
"tho excluding your own attribute"
Basically. Then again it depends.
It's not guaranteed every WORLD ability operates based on that notion,
just system wise, most targeted effects probably just use the Attribute
system.
halltear and Ainz were protected by World-Class Items, so they would notbe imprisoned within the otherworld. Instead they would appear in the paintedlandscape which substituted for the region of devoured reality. However, as theitem’s user, Aura would automatically be sucked in.
[V11] As the above indicates, Aura wasn't allowed to chose to not enter her WCI's effect. So exceptions exist.
Could just be a balancing idea though. If you used Depiction and didn't
enter you could just trap people inside and only be in trouble if they
escaped. As far as outside users are concerned, it seems to still
operate on an At Will system. Longinus is similar in it does not allow
you to escape your own deletion for usage. You could just as easily
attribute that to a activation requirement instead of a WORLD effect
however.
More than likely WORLD doesn't stop it because it's registered as a
Component for usage. Similar to consumption, gesture, or resource
components. It's a similar paradox to Victim dying but still triggering
an ability in death.
People would argue you can't activate an effect upon death since you are 'gone'
But it mainly depends on the construction of said ability, in this case coding and wording.
Given the rarity of world class items, it's not impossible each was
individually coded as well but it's safer to assume they are operating
in some common framework to WCE and anti wild magic at least. The
Attribute system just seems to be the most likely candidate.
