Ziggy:>Don't get me ramblin' ya hear.
>>go for it or maybe do it on your reddit since it's dead

Ziggy:>Did anyone even give a shit about my reddit?

>>>I used to check it regularly  and your blog!

"ゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴ!!!!"

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Ah shit. Here we go again. Time for   the bear to ride it's unicycle. The people demand it! or maybe not. I do tend to simp for what my nakama want. Or at least two special someone's that keep me from suicide.

To be Ziggy is to suffer. Just go and believe what someone else told you if you don't like what Ziggy has to say Ziggy's sorry he's autistic and sometimes he doesn't agree with what people parrot together. Guess people like to hear me bitch and moan. Well guess you get a superfluous article now I've already talked about. Nothing new to see here~ At least for people who put up with me regularly.

Thesis A Alpha I 1 01: Ziggy  believes Beyonders / Overlords of the New World is a power level in Overlord

*99.99999999999999999% of imaginary readers stop reading*

Great! Ziggy usually ends up rambling to himself anyway. At least here Ziggy isn't bothering anyone who didn't sign up for pointless autism. Well anyone who wants to be in the corner with Ziggy already knows he doesn't play nice and tends to bite.

Lemmas(I'd rather not have to do this but some people still bitch about it). If you don't know what a lemma is, google it.

Lemma 1: Power Level Categorization Exists, Deal With It

Do you all agree about categorizing people based on power levels in Overlord?

No?Raaaaaaawr.

First: Overlord is already filled with various 'power level' categories. Deal with it. Some are absolute some are culturally or racially specific. What matters is they are used to describer demonstrable differences in power.

eg: Realm of Heroes, Outliers, all the adventurer ranks

Just as people used Gazef as a means to measure others, these other ranks also are used to relatively demarcate the general combat potential of a given character. If you don't like it, complain to Maruyama on twitter. Or Toriyama.

"IT'S OVER 9000!"

Or

"He's Stronger than GAZEF!"

Adventurer ranks are pretty simple and translate to Levels fairly simply. The same core ideas applies to the broader power level categories. There's just an issue with rank as some people can have a rank that is lower or higher than their actual power level relative to that rank (eg Ninya and Azuth).

If we ignore the cultural bias of Adventurer Ranks, we do have absolute power scale groupings as well - mainly the Realm of Heroes and Outliers are the most common and even appear in Author Notes.

============

=Hero= Probably in the 30s or whatever

This power level represents those beyond the limits of humanity (whatever the hell that means to you)
As far as Maruyama is concerned, a HERO is a human in the Fifth Tier of magic casters or a warrior that can take on 10,000 plus people alone. Basically Lu Bu on steroids, cocaine, and like maybe three Red Bulls. Considering humans consider people who reach 3rd and sometimes 4th tier geniuses, that shouldn't be surprising.

"Hero — one who had surpassed all other humans"

The fourth tier of magic was a realm that only geniuses could barely reach after much hard work.
[V13]

Power Level  relativism and all that noise.
From an objective standpoint, as far as Ziggy sees it (barring pure Level 30 Farmers) HEROES are those people who can basically face armies and Dynasty Warriors MUSOU people. And you can't really do a whole lot about it. Maybe cheese them with arrows and magic casters? You're going to need a lot of meat shields or something to keep you getting shanked however.

In terms of ganking, HEROES seems to be where outnumbering people isn't enough anymore to bring them down. Maybe? Like people can always get ganked but by the time someone reaches Hero, you would need to gank with so many high level people it just isn't viable anymore due to how rare they are. So in a country of millions, you might not have enough strong people to bring down a Hero in a fair or unfair fight. You'd need to exploit like magical weaknesses or shit to take them down. Supposedly you can catch them off guard but the story typically portrays them as people that doesn't really work on normally.

----------------------------

This was not the sort of task which would usually be assigned to the Sunlight Scripture. Instead, it would have been the province of the Theocracy’s most powerful special operations unit, the Black Scripture, whose members wielded the power of heroes

[V1]

Gazef activated his trump card. Heat bloomed from his hands, and spread to envelop his entire body. Gazef broke the limits of his physical body and stepped into the realm of heroes

[V1]

“Appearances aside, Lukrut has a point. A hero is someone who surpasses the realm of human possibility. I get that feeling from you too.”

[V2]

“The former Ninth Seat of the Black Scripture… deranged individuals with the power of heroes are hard to deal with.”

[V2]

Given that he was a person whocould nonchalantly give away those magic items, he might be able to use fifth tier spells, which were the domain of heroes.

[V2]

“I don’t know what sort of ugly face is under that helmet of yours, but there’s no way that I, Clementine-sama — one who’s left humanity behind and stepped into the realm of heroes — could possibly lose!

[V2]

“Alright, maybe he’s not such a good example… still, the only person I can think of whose swordsmanship approaches his was among the Thirteen Heroes. Gagaran here is good, but she can’t beat Gazef.” “…Hey don’t compare him to me. Gazef’s a man with a foot into the realm of heroes, y’know?” “Hmph. You’re a heroic woman too… although the woman part is in doubt.” As soon as Evileye’s voice trailed off, Gagaran laughed and answered: “Oi oi, Evileye. These heroes in question are monsters with unique abilities that have surpassed the realm of humanity, right?” “…I do not deny that.” “Then I’m still human. Just an ordinary person who can’t reach the realm of heroes.”

[V5]

Even a hero — one who had surpassed all other humans — would have had trouble blocking that attack. Mortals, wrought of weak flesh and bones, would not be able to even muster up the stamina to defend against it. This was an inhuman blow

[V6]

“Then… can the Black Scripture deal with it? That’s the most important thing.” They were the Slaine Theocracy’s final ace in the hole, a special forces unit composed of heroes. One could think of them as adamantite-ranked adventurers

[V10]

The Grand King Buser. He was the king of a certain demi-human tribe, a being known as the Lord of Destruction. That nickname came from the fact that he was skilled in martial arts that destroyed weaponry and his fighting style that revolved around such sundering techniques. He was a mortal enemy of the Holy Kingdom who had defeated many famed warriors, and he had fought Olrand in the past. Back then, he had destroyed Olrand’s longsword, his backup weapons of a shortsword and handaxe, and even a billhook used to cut trees for firewood. Although he had broken all of Olrand’s weapons, the Grand King withdrew after seeing the reinforcements sent from the fortress. In a sense, being able to hold out until help arrived was a win for Olrand, and many people praised him for his valor. To Olrand, however, it simply meant that the Grand King did not think that slaying Olrand was worth the risk, and so all Olrand felt was a hollow sense of defeat. “I do want to fight him again, but… I guess I still can’t beat him now. You’d probably need one of those people they call heroes to defeat him, otherwise it would be very difficult. Therefore… ah, you’ve also heard of it, right boss? How that great warrior, Gazef Stronoff, died in battle

[V12]

In the grip of her powerful emotions, Remedios slammed her fist down on the table. As someone who had entered the realm of heroes, that blow crushed the area of the table beneath it and gouged a chunk out, which fell to the ground. The bizarre damage pattern looked like some giant had pressed out the edge of the table, and it spoke of the extent of her anger

[V13]

Gazef Stronoff. The reason why he was called the strongest was that the Black Scripture has never ever shown itself in public. If they did, the seat of the strongest would easily be stolen by them. This was the truth.

Although they did not have a magic caster that could rival Fluder, they did have priests that could also use the 6th Tier of magic.

Excluding special exceptions, there were no humans that could defeat them.

[WN]

=Outliers= Probably those in the 40s

This power level represents people 'beyond' HEROES. Whatever the hell that means. Did people just decide how far was enough at some giant caucus or something? A poll on Reddit? We just pull out a Level out of a hat in some alley? Who knows~

It's partially related to what tier you can use. But there's more to it given non-casters can be HEROES and presumably Outliers. After Volume 14 though, assuming Strongest Human is an Outlier, what separates an Outlier from a Hero is tangible in terms of the perception of their LEVEL. People can feel a distinct difference between Outliers from various people in the Realm of Heroes. It's BEYOND HERO. Basically.  It's implied he's an Outlier at least.

So Fluder is a confirmed Outlier. And he professes that he surpassed Rigrit who we know is confirmed in the Realm of Heroes. What we don't know if he only meant in terms of magical research or in terms of raw magical power.  Contextually it's implied to be in terms of level from this reading at least. If Heroes are rare, Outliers are even more-so.

More on this later.

Those who stand in a realm after overcoming human limits are called Heroes, and those who go beyond Heroes are called Outliers.

[V7]

--------------------------

“Of course. In the past 200 years, I have not seen an arcane magic caster who was as powerful or more powerful than myself.” “Was there someone like that over 200 years ago?” Driven by curiosity, the Emperor asked his question, and the Imperial Court Wizard began perusing his memory. “Well, now. I have only ever met one person like that. One of the Thirteen Heroes from children’s stories, the necromancer Rigrit Bers Carau. Ah, although I think the other magic casters among the Thirteen Heroes were quite exceptional too. “Then, is there a more skilled arcane magic caster than yourself out there, Gramps?” Fluder’s eyes wavered, as though looking into the distance. “That is hard to say… I believe I have surpassed her by far now, but… I cannot be certain. That is because it is difficult to determine superiority in the field of magical theory.”

[V6]

“The 7th… no, don’t tell me, this flow of power is… the proof of the 8th…?” If that were so, then it would be the stuff of legends. Fluder could no longer speak, because magic of the 5th tier was the domain of heroes. And the 6th tier which Fluder had reached was terra incognita. And now, someone who had easily gone a tier beyond had suddenly appeared before his eye

[V7]

Fluder Paradyne was a magic caster of the highest order, and a hero possessed of incomparable education and knowledge besides. Countless entries in the history books of the Empire told of how he had single-handedly engaged monsters which threatened the safety of the nation, and emerged triumphant. His saintly demeanor also meant he was honored and respected by many people. In truth, many of the people here felt the same way about him. And now, Fluder was laughing in a way that shattered the mental image that everyone had of him. There was power in that laugh. He had the aura of a hero. There was no doubt that Fluder was radiating a fearsome pressure, and not the warmth that Jircniv sometimes felt from the man who was as close to him as his father. He possessed immense magical might, enough to take on all the Four Knights at once. And his voice took on a demented tone as he appeared to be going insane.

[V9]

"Those who stand in a realm after overcoming human limits are called heroes, and those who go beyond heroes are called outliers. Fluder is a outlier one of only four human magic casters on the whole continent"

[V9]

“You’re really going? Then take care not to stray too far.” The two of them voiced their acknowledgement as they left together. Despite what Suzuki Satoru had said, he was not worried about their safety. In Yggdrasil terms, they were easily above level 40. They were among the most powerful beings in the world, and the two of them had excellent sensory abilities. Even if ambushed, they were skilled enough to return alive

[KBA]

Which reminds me for local heroes (including Outliers) with effort may possibly attain victory [against the] the Pleiades as their last boss [rasu boss] was the setting . Naberal’s level is the highest, as she specializes in lighting but if countermeasures are prepared she is not that strong. Shizu does not excel at close combat ϐighting, her defense is not high, so she is quite weak when several people draw near her. Solution is a nuisance though thermal powers are her weak point. Maa, all this is in case of opponents of the same rank, for local hero-class [people] the potential is high that [hero-class people] are crushed piece by piece when trying to endure attacks

[V13AT]

oman followed after them. The one who walked in front was a young man. All ten of his fingers had rings adorning them. A gentle smile shone from his face. Behind him was a tired woman. Her clothes were loose and she walked in a way that said she did not want to walk at all. An unusually giant hat sat on her dome, covering most of her face. Lakyus raised her guard. Her companions were being suppressed on a biological level — that is to say, from raw power alone. Both of the visitors were capable of giving the worldfamous adamantite-ranked adventurer Lakyus a fright she could not put into words. Yet, once the person behind them showed up, the atmosphere changed more so than ever. That man’s giant body slowly inched its way into the room. His appearance was that of an axe-wielding barbarian. An intense, overwhelming pressure emanated from him that made them feel as though the space around them was being distorted. The two in front of them were indeed strong.

But, that man is far more powerful than them both. Lakyus could not move, as if she was being suffocated

===========

Basically, ignoring rigid definitions and non combat builds,

Heroes appear to be in the 30s

Outliers appear to be in the 40s (the sidestory and the anime Fluder kneeling scene implied by

Maruyama to suggest he's over 40 but mehhhhh your mileage may vary). Mileage? How Murican ---------Centric of me. TIME TO GET LYNCHED RIP That's what happens when you know at least one Canadian.

The point is we can clearly see that there is categorization  of power levels even beyond adventurer ranks subject to humanoid bias. Even Maruyama uses it. So deal with it? Okay? Okay. No? Oh.........

And then we got...... ???

The Thirteen Heroes? Demon Gods? Dragonlords? True Dragon Lords? Godkin?

These aren't exactly the same but people use them as relative marks for power levels.Maruyama uses them sometimes.

==Demon Gods==

As it's described,  Demon God level is basically a more popular way to refer to Outlier class people(those typically beyond Heroes) given how the Demon Gods surpassed Heroes but not by much on average. Demon Gods are not uniformly powerful but on average they are pushing into the outlier level barring stragglers and the pinnacle of their group.

-----------------------------

“I know it… I know your true identities! — Demon Gods! You must be Demon Gods.” There were scant few intelligent beings that Nigun knew of, which could stand on par with the highest tier angels: The Six Gods which Nigun believed in The kings of the mighty Draconic races — the Dragon Lords. The legendary monster who could destroy an entire country — Landfall. And one more — the Demon Gods.

[V1]

“…I couldn’t hurt him even with a spell enhanced with Penetrate Magic…? This high-level demon is beyond my expectations, no, he might be beyond the Demon Gods! Could he be the King of the Demon Gods?!

[V6]

“Nee-sama, even the Demon Gods weren’t this powerful. For all we know, Jaldabaoth might be a being superior to the Demon Gods.”

[V12]

9 Goddesses [tai no megami] > Landfall > Demon Gods> 13 Heroes ? Evil Deities and 13 Heroes had inconsistent strength, so it may be inaccurate [overall]

[ARC]

====================

==Dragon Lords==

This one is actually a bit broader given it's meant to describe a specific apex race but also a category of power. Mainly since it can refer to queer ability-using dragons OR just dragons who have accumulated enough racial levels to be Ancient (an actual relative metric for qualitative purposes in terms of power level). For our purposes Ancient Dragons titled Dragon Lords are the primary focus for this power level. We'll call them False Dragon Lords just to cement the distinction and ambiguity from True Dragon Lords. Some people use Ancient and Modern, or Olde and Neo prefixes. Use whatever you prefer but for our purposes it's True and False.

Of the non-true Dragon Councillors in Aggrande, which there are four, two are Dragon Lords, meanwhile two are not. All four are ranked higher or at least equal to  Rigrit in terms of absolute Level but only two have the Lord title. It's hypothesized that Diamond Dragon Lord and Blue Sky Dragon Lord are thus 46+ as well just like Olasird'arc was meanwhile Wyrm and Obsidian are not. So their titles are not Lord because they did not reach the threshold to be a Lord. in theory at least(they aren't Ancient yet, but may be close to it).

Ziggy's take: I can see Maruyama pulling stupid bullshit like that off. Since they're non-humanoids they do place a special value on Lords being stronger than others so maybe the lack of the cultural Lord title reflects the fact there are still some Outliers and Heroes in other races that surpass them but once you hit LORD level (46+) there's pretty much nothing else as strong as you?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

TLDR: Obsidan and Wyrm are probably like 40-45 and got bullied for not having a few more levels but were strong enough to be councillors.

Well anyway, we do know that Dragon ages can be used as power level categories in lieu of Adventurer ranks and this tends to be more accurate than ranks can be due to size and acquiring magic at different ages. .

-----------------------------

“The mightiest entities I know of are the Dragon Lords of the Council Alliance. Humanity cannot defeat foes like those.”

[V7]

That said, Olasird’arc’s eyes narrowed slightly. Being a Dragon Lord had a special significance among Dragons. It was a title only given to those who had reached the highest age category (Ancient) among the Dragons, or powerful Dragons who possessed special powers, or those Dragons who could use exotic magic. These outstanding Dragons were awarded the title of Lord

[V11]

“While difficulty two hundred beings have never appeared in the human world before… well, old Dragons would be roughly around one hundred.” “An old Dragon… while I’ve never fought those before, would that be around the same as the Guardian Deity of the oceans?” The Guardian Deity of the ocean referred to a Sea Dragon which dwelled in the ocean.

False Dragon Lords can range from the 40s to below  or on par with Godkin.

==Godkin==

After Dragon Lords, next up on the power scale list as seen on the Level List, is Godkin or Player Descendantes that Awakened. How strong they actually are is up for debate. It's a broad range too given there is a discrepancy in how strong the Captain is from Zesshi. At miminum they are above Dragon Lords but haven't been proven to surpass True Dragon Lords like Cure Elim or the Dragon Emperor in Level yet. We do know they surpass the Pleiades but not much else definitively.

-----------------------------

“But really now, it’s impossible to get those artifacts~ After all, that antique show is guarded by the strongest monster of the Black Scripture, that ancient beast with the blood of the Six Gods that’s beyond the realm of humanity~” “A God-Kin, huh… Is that fellow really that strong? I’ve only heard about it from you.” “It’s stronger than the idea of strength. The relevant information has been sealed up, which is why you don’t know~ If someone who knew about it was interrogated with mind-affecting magic, it would be really bad. I’ve heard that if the secret got out, it’d lead to total war with the surviving true Dragon Lords

[V2]

The man before her did not have much in the way of combat skills, but he possessed superhuman physical abilities. As far as she knew, said abilities were second only to those of the two God-Kin — the Black Scripture’s Extra Seatand its First Seat (who was also the Black Scripture’s leader).

[V2]

Shalltear considered the twelve men and women, and her gaze finally rested on one of them, a man. That man… is he strong? Shalltear was surprised and had no levels in dedicated warrior classes, so her assessment of her opposition’s strength told her that he was not only stronger than the Vampire Brides she had brought along, but stronger still than Solution, the Pleiades battle maid

[V3]

“Could he be a God-kin?” The offspring of the beings known as “Players” were people who might awaken incredible power from within themselves. The Slaine Theocracy called these people demigods. Or, more precisely, they were the ones who carried the bloodline of the Six Gods within their veins. If they had the blood of others, they would be termed differently. It seemed very likely that this Momon was of the bloodline of a “Player.” Or rather, itwould be betterto say that no human could have possessed such power

[V6]

The nature of his smile changed. “It’s different for the God-kin.” “Ohh,” went the sounds of rejoicing. “The two of them should be able to deal with an army of Death Knights and Soul Eaters. Of course, just in case, we still need to give them the best backup we can.” “So it’ll be fine with those two.

[V10]

There was no reason for a lie, but his emotions could not believe it.. The strongest existence in the Black Scripture was the First Seat. That is the only person to awaken[kakuseisaseta] the blood of the 6 Great Gods. Because they are equal[as strong as] that means it is a being that can fight equally with a dragonlord. ’That girl... she’s stronger than the Captain, a being that can fight a dragonlord?’

’Is it possible that girl is a Godkin?’

 ’I can’t say it’s impossible....but it’s possible she’s a True Dragonlord....’

-----

No matter what he says, I won’t be shocked. Despite steeling himself with this thought, Edgar was still blown away by what he heard next

“She’s as strong as our captain.”

“….What! That means…. Impossible…. I can’t believe it….”

His reasoning was telling him that this was the truth, but his emotions vehemently refused this. Any of his colleagues would feel the same. The strongest person of the Black Scripture, the 1st Seat. Basically, he was the only being that had awakened to his God’s Blood. He could fight equally with Dragon Kings.

And his equal was this beautiful lady.

Edgar suppressed his emotions. The important thing was to remain rational, and not to remain fixed into one mode of thinking. If he was restricted by his way of thinking, he would lose sight of his mission.

“….Could she also be a god?”

“I cannot say that it is impossible…. But she might be a True Dragon King.”

[WN]

A: No there are existences that can be quite strong guys [kekkou shii yatsu] who are beings of this New World. Supposing a Player leaves behind children, in that case I believe you can begin to understand

[Blog]

==================

==TRUE  Dragon Lords==

The formerly strongest in the New World. Although they lost against Players in the end, cementing the end of their domination, Dragon Lords have confirmed kills against Players of unknown strength on multiple occasions(PDL, DDDL, those who killed the Greed Kings). And at least two are in the 90s in terms of overall level. Their exact bounds of this power level are open to interpretation but we can confirm at minimum they are beyond the Pleiades and can potentially rival Players.

What sets True Dragon Lords apart from False Dragon Lords isn't just Wild Magic though but overall, the ones we hear about are all fairly high level and can compensate for a lack of equipment with their natural advantages and Wild Magic. And that's against Players. Most didn't end up surviving though. The potential is there though, which is more to say than pretty much any other race or power level.

There's a hidden joke about this from Maruyama too. That is of the True Dragon Lords, the Overed Dragons are the ones who should probably be a step below Players. They can challenge Players but the odds are not in their favor. Without some cheat hax Wild Magic.  More on the reasoning behind that joke at the end~

------------------------------

There were scant few intelligent beings that Nigun knew of, which could stand on par with the highest tier angels: The Six Gods which Nigun believed in The kings of the mighty Draconic races — the Dragon Lords.

[V1]

He agreed with their judgment. After all, the only people who could defeat that Vampire were probably Godkin or Dragon Lords. Therefore, they would leave sentries in place and if they found anyone who could defeat that Vampire, they would be on their guard against them

[V4]

This is frequently misunderstood however, there are various guys in the New World who can defeat those around Level 50 right? In the case of those Dragonlords bearing the label True, (True Dragon Lords) even all members of the Pleiades would not be an opponent.

[V5+6]

As a Dragon Lord, his senses were more acute than that of the average Dragon. That being the case, anyone who could come this close to himself must be possessed of incredible abilities. Even a long-lived being like himself only knew of a few beings with such abilities. First were its fellow Dragon Lords. Then, one of the Thirteen Heroes who was no longer in this world, the assassin Ijaniya.

[V7]

To be precise, the danger lay with one of the councilors of the Republic, the Platinum Dragon Lord, child of the Dragon Emperor. If they did battle with him, the mightiest of the Dragon Lords, they ran the risk of their country being reduced to scorched earth

[V10]

[Tsa] Has Killed a Player in the Past.

[V14]

The Deep Darkness Dragon Lord, who annihilated the players 300 years ago. Possess the ?????, one of the 20 world-class items, in his possession. His unique magic is damn strong and both his offense and defense is ϐlawless, but unfortunately Shalltear is his nemesis. Against any other Floor Guardian, he would likely be victorious... Don’t ϐight one-on-one? Deploy the Gargantua? Don’t say that...

[Movie]

Of course, he had only encountered one being of comparable power to himself during his travels. That would be the entity who resided upon the peak that men called the highest on the continent, a mighty foe who commanded the great power known as Wild Magic — the Brightness Dragon Lord, whose confrontation with Suzuki Satoru had ended in a draw

[KBA]

He had collected information on many mighty beings during his five-year journey. While he had learned it through money or force from various knowledgeable individuals, what they all agreed on was that the mightiest beings in this world were the ones known as the Dragon Lords. In fact, he had already confirmed that one of them had the same fighting power as he had. However, one could not say it was far stronger than himself. In that case, he should be able to use strategy and tactics to triumph against his opponent — even if it was a Dragon Lord.

[KBA]

So it was a Dragon Lord. In other words, it was in the same league as the Brightness Dragon Lord. Simply put, it was very strong.

[KBA]

She could tell that it was huge, even from a great distance. What was that? What on earth had happened? Question after question piled on top of each other, but in the end, the most important one was “What kind of power could have created something that frightening?” Was it a secret technique wielded by Suzuki Satoru, her travelling companion? Or was it the power of the mysterious person who had taken Keno’s country, Keno’s family, Keno’s everything away from her? Regardless of what it was, this was not something that Keno’s own power could hope to achieve. This was the nigh-miraculous power wielded by those faraway individuals who stood upon the apex of the world. It would be good if that was Suzuki Satoru’s power. No — it was not good. It would mean that Suzuki Satoru, who could casually crush any foe he encountered — apart from the Brightness Dragon Lord — had encountered someone who warranted the use of that power. In other words, Suzuki Satoru’s opponent was as strong as he was

[KBA]

The dragon recalled the history of the world.

By those beings, the dragons that were harkened as the strongest were hunted down. The current beings called Dragonlords, were in the past— More than 500 years ago, nothing more than children to the past Dragonlords.

[WN]

Q: Perhaps the highest level in the NW is predicted to be around Lv. 70-80 suppose it will end with [as a] foil/gag. Besides if they do not know Ainz is a Player it’s deϐinite. ..That Dragon-san from before being surprised Sebas is a transformed dragon...[that’d be] amusing.

A: No, for Level 80s there are various ways to close the gap! If a person is not from YGGDRASIL, even the stars would be within reach!

So yeah, power scaling exists in Overlord.

-------------------------------

Lemma 2: Relative Power Level Sensing Exists

Level sense has always been a part of Overlord. Is it perfect? No. But it's a way to approximate power levels. It's a way for characters to tell the reader how strong someone is. Is it lazy writing? Maybe. But it's done for the reader's convenience as well as being an exampe of certain underlying mechanics at work.

============

“Seriously, little bro. Do you think your Ani-ja is someone like that?” After that forceful statement, Shasuryu took a step forward. Though Zaryusu was a hardened veteran of many battles from his time as a traveler, that looming sense of pressure — like an encroaching wall — made even someone like him want to back off

[V4]

The warriors started gathering at the entrance of the village. All of them were heavily muscled and imposing Lizardmen. Their bodies were covered in faded scars, which implied that they were grizzled veterans. However, Zaryusu did not see their chief among them. All of these Lizardmen were mere warriors. None of them had the fearsome stature of his brother, nor did any of them have anything like Crusch’s unusual looks or her air of authority. As Rororo roared, the Lizardmen remained on edge. And then— “Ngk!” —Crusch gulped and squeaked. However, Zaryusu had already sensed the arrival of another Lizardman and remained unmoved. That was because he had already sensed the slow approach of a mighty being even before it had made its appearance. Still, he could not help but stare at the Lizardman before him.

[V4]

Anybody seeing this would surely wonder if this was some kind of joke. Just going by appearances, there was no chance Sebas could take this man in a fight. Be it in terms of age, musculature, his thick arms, height, mass and the aura of violence around him, the younger man had the advantage. And yet, this distinguished old gentleman was lifting up this heavyweight with one hand.—No, that was not the case. Perhaps an eyewitness would be able to sense the difference between the two of them. While humans had poor instincts, they could still sense a sufficiently great difference between two parties. The difference between Sebas and this man was— The difference between an absolute superior and an utter inferior

[V5]

The room fell silent, which told Climb that the discussion was over. “Ah, you can come in. Can’t he, Renner?” “Hm?” Climb’s heart lurched as he heard those words. He was surprised that she had sensed his presence, but at the same time, he had been somewhat expecting that.

[V5]

The man wore a chain shirt and a helm and carried a spear. He wore a surcoat emblazoned with the Kingdom’s crest on top of the chain shirt. This was the standard uniform of the average guard in the Kingdom, but Climb could sense that neither of the people in front of him was well-trained.

[WN]

Soon, he saw the old man walking along the street.

He wanted to call out to him, but he could not work up the courage to do so. That was because he sensed an invisible wall between them; a sense of awesome power that seemed to crush him.

[WN]

One of the men — the one who looked the most muscular — clenched his fist. Compared to him, the old man seemed far inferior, be it in the sturdiness of their bodies, the bulging of their muscles, or their bloodthirsty brutality. Surely the younger man could easily send the old man flying with but a swing of his fist. The people around them realized this, and gasped in horror at the tragedy which was about to befall the old man. Amidst all this, only Climb felt that something was strange. Indeed, the younger man looked stronger. Yet, Climb could sense an aura of absolute power coming from the old man

[V5]

“How naive… Climb-kun, I’ll take the one on the right. You handle the one on the left.” After examining their movements, Brain sensed that one of them was weaker than the other and indicated as much to the youth beside him. The young man nodded, and raised his sword. His unhesitating movements were those which one could only find in those people who had fought for their lives. Brain was relieved that he was not an untested newcomer to combat.

[V5]

That man was called Succulent. He was the biggest obstacle to this takeover operation, and the biggest prize of them all. He was a member of Six Arms, whose prowess was comparable to those of adamantite-ranked adventurers. In other words, he was an unbeatable foe for Climb.

....

Succulent turned to face Climb, ignoring the latter’s internal screaming. His stance exposed no weaknesses, and he seemed like an even more formidable obstacle to Climb now. Succulent suddenly stepped forward. The oncoming wave of pressure forced Climb to take one step back. When there was a massive disparity of strength between two opponents, their battle would not take long. However, Climb had to take on that arduous task.

[V5]

The door to the guest room slowly opened. Its hinges were regularly oiled and it should have swung open smoothly, but for some reason, the motion of the doors seemed unusually sluggish and ponderous, as though the door was fighting a pressure differential between the air on the inside and the outside of the room. It was as though their speed was matching the way Sebas felt

The room was the same as always, but unlike how it usually was, there were now four heteromorphic beings waiting inside. One was a light blue warrior. He emitted a freezing aura and held a platinum halberd, but was otherwise motionless. One was a demon. There was no telling what schemes hid within his mocking features. Then, therewas an angel in the shape of a fetus, held in the arms ofthe demon. And finally— “Please forgive my lateness. I am deeply sorry to keep you waiting.” By sheer force of will, Sebas quashed the trembling in his voice. Then he bowed respectfully to the sole seated being in the room, as though in worship. Sebas was the butler and the head of the manservants, and he occupied a position close to the top of Nazarick’s hierarchy. Only one person could make Sebas bow before him in fear and awe. There could be no other. That entity was one of the 41 Supreme Beings, who commanded fealty that could not be contested. —Ainz Ooal Gown.

[V6]

Nonsense, Evileye wanted to say, but she could not speak. She felt like she had been struck by lightning. She glanced at her right hand and saw that it was covered in sweat. “—Are you alright? Allow me to take care of things from now on. You should go back and rest.:” The man did not seem to care at all about the armed and battle-ready members of Blue Rose, but spoke kindly to the insect maid. Though he was an enemy, that act of his seemed quite endearing. However, Evileye did not think so. The fear she felt from the top of her head to the ends of her toes refused to vanish. Evileye’s survival instincts responded. She held her breath and desperately whispered to Gagaran and Tia beside her.

“…Run away… idiot, don’t look at me. Shut up and listen. That… he’s too powerful. He’s a monster among monsters. Don’t look back, just run with all your might.”

Although their enemy was getting away before their eyes, Evileye did not care. She could not tear her eyes away from the man in front of her. The other two were like her, covered in sweat and frozen in place. After watching the maid leave, the man turned back to face Evileye and the others. In the 250-plus years of her life, Evileye had seen powerful beings of all shapes and sizes. However, the man before them had a unique aura about him.

No, it was more that the nauseating malice he emanated had no equal in all her experience. Someone like him ought to be on the level of the Platinum Dragon Lord. He was too powerful for her to make an accurate judgment.

[V6]

He had ignored Evileye before him — the one who had actually attacked him — but had instead attacked the two people behind her. Why was that? Obviously it was because they were fleeing, but there was another, greater reason beyond that. Evileye fully understood the disparity in their respective fighting strengths, and she knew that she had not been perceived as a threat. However, the truth was worse than what she had thought — her opponent did not even see her as an enemy. The person before him would not flee. So he would kill the people who did flee. That was probably what he was thinking.

[V6]

Evileye heard the sound of swallowing in the silence. It had come from the demon. That unfathomably powerful demon, whose strength even Evileye could not accurately judge, did not dare breathe loudly in the presence of this imposing warrior

[V6]

After muttering to himself, Momon strode over to the demons. There was no caution or wariness in his footsteps. It was as though he were walking through a park. Normally, the guards would have called out to him to stop, but after seeing his prowess, nobody could even think of doing that. The only thing mere mortals could do was watch the back of a great warrior as he went to work. Unable to bear the encroaching pressure that came from the man approaching him so casually, the Gazer Devils roared and leapt at him. There was a flash of light. The dismembered parts of their corpses flew in all directions

[V6]

“—I can’t sense any magical power from your body.” “Ahhh. So you were using divination magic, then. How rude.” Ainz showed Hekkeran and the others his hands. As one might expect of an undead, there was nothing of them but bones. He spread his fingers to show that each of them, on both hands, was wearing a ring. “Once I remove this ring, you will understand. I also lent it to my subordinates.” Saying that, Ainz removed a ring on his right hand. And then—

“Yeah, I get it. When he removed the ring, the entire world seemed to change. I felt it raise goosebumps all over me.” “Yes. Powerful wouldn’t nearly be enough to describe this monster.” The alertness level of the three of them had gone through the roof. They stared at Ainz with nerves wound even tighter than before. Theirs was an expression that understood that even an instant’s loss of watchfulness would spell their deaths

[V7]

“Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but let’s get this show on the road,” Jugem whispered to Enri before shouting: “Oi! You lot! Our Ane-san is here! She holds your lives in her hands!” When the five Ogres heard this, they raised their heads to look at Enri. It felt like there was a palpable pressure crushing her, but Enri forced herself not to take a step backward. If she gave in, the plan would fail, and the Goblins would nip potential problems in the bud by killing the Ogres on the spot. Enri could already see the Goblins’ hands going to their weapons. Enri was calmly taking out a potion bottle himself. An eternity seemed to pass under the withering pressure. Enri endured the stares of the Ogres and returned it with one of her own. Her gaze was steady and unyielding. In her eyes, the Ogres overlapped with the image of the knights from back then.

[V8]

Difficulty 11-20: The level where winning with sword skills alone is impossible. -Monsters at this level are man-eating oni (Ogres).

What appeared was a group of roughly 500 riders. It seemed entirely insignificant compared to the two armies facing each other down. However, those troops were highly abnormal. They seemed to radiate an oppressive air that he could feel even from so far away. It stirred up Gazef’s memories from his time in Carne Village. There had been a knight-shaped monster back then, which Ainz said he had created. There were roughly 200 of them now, warriors bearing massive shields and clad in spiked armor. The rest were similarly inhuman soldiers, but they wore leather armor, and they were armed with axes, pikes, crossbows or similar weapons. If the former were knights, then the latter could be called warriors. But whatever they were, they were not humans. They were monsters, down to the marrow of their bones. And then, those monsters rode monsters of their own. Said creatures were beasts of bone, with flickering mist in place of their flesh and blood. The fog sparkled everywhere, pus yellow and emerald green. Goosebumps sprouted all over his body. This was bad. This was very bad.

surprising. It’s made me break out in goosebumps.” “…No. No, Marquis Raeven. That’s not the case. What the Marquis feels now… what fills your body with said goosebumps… is definitely not surprise.” “Then what would that be?” Seeing that Raeven was completely baffled, Gazef answered curtly. “It’s the fear of death. It’s triggered your basic survival instinct.” Turning his eyes from the visibly shaken Raeven, Gazef looked at the Imperial Army. “The horses are shying. Even these trained, hardened warhorses are so frightened they can’t move.” “…What are they? A secret division of the Empire?” “…Impossible. Those monsters are not things that humans can control or use!” Gazef knew nothing about the true identity of these monsters, but his warrior’s instinct supplied enough information for him to speak conclusively.

“Marquis Raeven! Please gather the former adventurers immediately! Ask them what’s our best move! They’ve fought many monsters in the past and survived; please ask them to share their wisdom with us!” “Un—” He probably wanted to reply that he understood, but his bodyguards were faster than that, and had already moved up to protect him. However, that was only expected. They had sensed the power of this threat before Gazef had. “Marquis Raeven!” The formerly orichalcum-ranked adventurers rode over on horseback. “Did you see it? Do you feel it?” At the head of the adventurers was their leader, the paladin of the Fire God, Boris Axelson. Within his voice was a thrill of fear he could not hide. Raeven could not speak. Gazef understood why. There was a note of fright in the voice of a formerly orichalcum-ranked adventurer, in a place defended by such a vast army.

“Is… is that the power of Ainz Ooal Gown? Then, then… what manner of creatures are riding on those monsters’ backs?” “That…” The adventurers looked nervously to each other. “—We don’t know. The only thing we’re certain of is that they must be very dangerous. No, I apologize, I shouldn’t be using such vague terms as dangerous. However, I can think of no other words to describe what we are facing now.”

[V9]

They watched Jircniv and company in silence. Although it was said that one could sense a certain kind of strength in the eyes of those with power or status, this was the first time Jircniv had ever felt a physical pressure.

[V9]

It was a black-armored knight. It rode a red-eyed unicorn that had a jet-black body and sported two horns on its head. One could imagine that the rider was not human either. It emanated an aura of mortal danger, as radiant as the sun. Its full plate armor pulsed as if it was alive. Zanac could feel his warhorse trembling in fear beneath him. It clenched its clawed gauntlet and thumped its chest. “Apologies! We are the envoys of the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ainz Ooal Gown!” One might compare that voice to music squeezed out of rotted instruments. It made its listeners’ hair stand on end just by hearing it. Zanac gathered up his courage to banish his fear, and then he spoke.

[V10]

“Fu, fu.” The Martial Lord’s body quivered as he chuckled. It was the excitement of a warrior. That was what Osk believed, but it did not seem to be the case. “What kind of… What kind of challenger is this? No, am I the challenger?” “Wha-what?” “Fu, fu… How scary. Osk, I’m shaking in fear.” Osk could not help but doubt his ears. “This, this must be what living beings call instinct. My legs won’t move… It’s as though they’re telling me that if I go, I’ll die, fu, fu.” That was not laughter. He was simply trying to calm his disturbed breathing. “I heard my opponent was the Sorcerer King, and I wondered what sort of foe he would be… It would seem my arrogance up till now will be repaid in full.” “What are you saying, Martial Lord? What do you mean, arrogance?”

......

But in the end, I have found a foe which my instincts are screaming at me to run away from. Thank you very much.

[V10]

Remedios remained dubious of the Sorcerer King’s strength. She had personally experienced Jaldabaoth’s might when he had revealed his true nature, but she could not sense anything like that from the Sorcerer King. If he was truly able to crush the Kingdom’s army, then he ought to be surrounded in an aura of power that could not be hidden. Was that because he was a magic caster? However, if he was on Jaldabaoth’s level, she ought to have been able to sense something from him.

[V13]

“Captain! Come back here!” Her subordinate paladin shouted to her as he castUnder Divine Flag. However, Remedios did not retreat. Her instincts were telling her something. As the smoke thinned, she could sense three demihumans slowly approaching her, and shortly after that, her hunch was proved right. One of them was a warrior with the upper body of a beast and the lower body of a carnivore. One of them was a four-armed demihuman woman. And the last was a simian demihuman who was festooned in golden accessories. Remedios had originally planned to kill tens of thousands of demihumans by herself here, and she was very confident of doing so. However, she now sensed that fighting these three demihumans at once was extremely dangerous. There were only three of them. While she could not make them out due to the smoke, she could tell they were brimming with confidence, given their unhurried pace. Even their fellow demihumans seemed to have handed their task over to those three, unwilling to come any closer. ...They’re strong. I don’t know if I can beat them even if it’s a one-on-one fight… or can I? I’ve got no chance if it’s three-on-one. Remedios’s instincts screamed at her to flee rather than take these three on at the same time

[V13]

“...Oya? ...I’m not a warrior so I’m not too sure, but they’re pretty weak, aren’t they?” “Heeheehee… who knows? Best not to be careless, Nasrene-dono.” Remedios picked up Vijar snorting at her, and she roared, “Here I come!” He must have sensed that those paladins were weak. No good would come of letting him mention it

[V13]

“Hmmm, even though you’re high-born, this kind of mentality is still so deeply ingrained in your heart?” Upon hearing what Evileye had said, Azuth put on a displeased expression and stared at her. Though they could feel a sense of pressure from his gaze alone, none of Blue Rose backed down. To Evileye especially, it felt just like a soft breeze. She continued

[V14]

His personal combat abilities are probably the lowest of the Adamantite-ranked adventurers and also the lowest in his team. Although he heavilies relies on the Powered Suit's capabilities he himself is still strong enough to be considered an Orichalcum ranked adventurer. He is by no means weak.

[V14]

The three who had been standing by the door, Tia, Tina, and Gagaran, appeared to be pushed along by an unseen power into the room. A man and a woman followed after them. Lakyus could not move, as if she was being suffocated. As an Adamantite-ranked adventurer, she had defeated numerous powerful monsters and demi-humans yet they all paled in comparison to this man.

“…We were right to bring our equipment along.” “…Every single one of them is stronger than us.

[V14]

“Are they really from the Theocracy…? I can’t believe that people like this exist there.” A shocked Evileye said. Lakyus was equally surprised. They had fought against a unit that was burning down demi-human villages in the past and they were strong. Especially the captain of that unit, who was stronger than Lakyus was at that time. Yet, no one from that unit was as strong as the people in front of them. “You didn’t know? I thought that you’d at least have heard rumors about them… they are the pride of the Theocracy, their unit of heroes, the Black Scripture. It’s likely that all of them have reached the realm of heroes.” Azuth was looking towards the barbarian. That man put on the smile a beast would have right before it feasted on its prey. “Hahahaha… Looks like you know quite a bit about us. But, don’t you have one too? Someone like me, or even stronger than me?” He pointed towards Evileye, “Evileye of Blue Rose. You’re a hard one to deal with.

Yet his attitude was not of one admitting defeat, rather, his expression told them that he treated Evileye as an equal. “…Hmph. There are people stronger than me… Hmm… excluding fiends, of all of the humans and demi-humans, only Momon-sama is stronger.” “Only Momon? Hmmm…” The barbarian muttered to himself while a faint smile bloomed on his face… and said no more.

[V14]

Climb ran between the women towards the throne room. In the subsequent moment, so much information flooded his brain that he had a sensory overload. Sat upon the throne was not Rampossa III, but a skeletal monster that radiated overwhelming pressure — the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown.

==Overlords of the New World (Beyonders - Transcendents)==

Of course, he had only encountered one being of comparable power to himself during his travels. That would be the entity who resided upon the peak that men called the highest on the continent, a mighty foe who commanded the great power known as Wild Magic — the Brightness Dragon Lord, whose confrontation with Suzuki Satoru had ended in a draw

[KBA]

It seems the Dragon Lords are hostile to Yggdrasil Players… if someone like that keeps getting stronger, I won’t be able to handle them by myself, right? I came out even with the Brightness Dragon Lord — no, it was only a draw because I ran away… well, if that’s his limit, I’ll be able to beat him next time.

[KBA]

==================================

First, I've already talked about how I believe Godkin are low balled by everyone. Ignoring meta reasons, there are several in universe reasons why.

First, a link to rambling in the past Ziggy did on this:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qcmG6_j8tUUIY1RLjLh101sHWYonoDDv0V8KPxQeqOg/edit?usp=sharing

Feel free to ignore that though.

Oh boy do I get conniptions when someone's argument for how strong the Godkin hinges on "Shalltear only said the Captain was stronger than Solution!" like that proves the relative power level to any extent.

Foremost, that's actually a mistranslated sentence, it says "far surpasses" or "far stronger". But sure, if we compare the relative value of something to another, that must mean they are close right!? Hm? No?

What's Zesshi called? You know the phrase right?

"An Overlord of the New World"

Naturally, that isn't a definitive power level or anything. ...Or is it?

But isn't Overlord filled with broad categories of power level? Adventurer Ranks, Realm of Heroes, Outliers, and now Overlords of the New World. Yes, yes it is. see above if you're skimming the preambles and introductory bullshit.  So why so much noise about New World Overlords?

First off, if we look at Maruyama's various statements, one of them in particular sticks out:

======

""

There was no reason for a lie, but his emotions could not believe it.. The strongest existence in the Black Scripture was the First Seat. That is the only person to awaken[kakuseisaseta] the blood of the 6 Great Gods. Because they are equal[as strong as] that means it is a being that can fight equally with a dragonlord. ’That girl... she’s stronger than the Captain, a being that can fight a dragonlord?’

’Is it possible that girl is a Godkin?’

 ’I can’t say it’s impossible....but it’s possible she’s a True Dragonlord....’

====

No matter what he says, I won’t be shocked. Despite steeling himself with this thought, Edgar was still blown away by what he heard next.

“Are you saying that they broke the 500-year-old World Pact? No, under these cases, the Pact has yet to be broken.”

Edgar frowned. It was an alliance against the poison that stained the world. The strongest contract that protected the Slane Theocracy. It would not break even under the worst circumstances.

“Edgar. I want you to remember this, she and the Captain. I do not know who is stronger. I simply feel that they are far stronger than me….”

“Indeed….”

A person who had only used small change could only thing of values such as 9 billion and 10 billion to be large amounts of money. Understanding this nuance, Edgar nodded. However, it mattered not. That girl was a being who could easily destroy a country.

[WN]

If she actually fought against that thing, she would not last even a single blow.

 The rumours were true.

(Not only does it have monstrous physical power, it’s magic ability is on a whole other level…. Maybe around Godkin or Dragon King…. No. It’s a super monster that should be thought of as a god.)

....

“….Don’t be dumb. You saw that thing right? The Great One can’t win against it. The only ones who have a chance are probably…. The Godkins. No…. Not even them.

The Slane Theocracy worshipped Six Great Gods. And there were those amongst its population that had inherited the blood of Gods. They had the hidden potential to become much, much stronger.

In a sense, even Clementine had their blood.

However, that was all she had. She was far away from being called a Godkin.

Those were people who had awakened the power of the Gods hidden in their blood.

Currently, the Theocracy only had two. One was the Head of the Black Scripture that Clementine used to work for, and the other was the Head Priest of the Theocracy.

Their abilities were on another level, and should they use the equipment left behind by the gods, it was said that they could level a continent.

 However—

Even Clementine did not know what would happen if they faced the monster in that room.

It was impossible to make a guess with her ability. The two sides were simply too strong for her to comprehend.

“…………….”

“Maybe. But for the Evil God to really exist.”

“…………….”

“True. He might be a regular god, or a Godkin not of the Theocracy. Or maybe a Dragon King? Maybe he has the blood of the Great Sinners…. I don’t know. But what are you going to do? If you won’t allow me to run away we will fight here you know~”

[WN]

He agreed with their judgment. After all, the only people who could defeat that Vampire were probably Godkin or Dragon Lords. Therefore, they would leave sentries in place and if they found anyone who could defeat that Vampire, they would be on their guard against them. “Really now. So that monster wasn’t a Vampire, then?” He concurred. That was why he had called it a mysterious undead being “Could it be a Dragon Lord? The Vampire Dragon Lord or the Elder Coffin Dragon Lord?”

[V4]

This is frequently misunderstood however, there are various guys in the New World who can defeat those around Level 50 right? In the case of those Dragonlords bearing the label True, (True Dragon Lords) even all members of the Pleiades would not be an opponent.

[V5+6AT]

===

Notice how the notion of a power level BEYOND Dragon Lord and Godkin comes up multiple times. And remember, the Greed Kings(ie God level beings) nearly eradicated the Dragon Lords. It shouldn't be too hard to see there is a separation in power between the two no?

And thus, we come to the second thesis of this article:

Bullshit Head-=;:+Canon: Ziggy believes New World Overlords/Beyonders/Transcendental Beings is a relative Power Level just like all the others. Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuuuuun. Basically it's for anything Level 90+ (including Players ie "Gods") like how Hero is for anything 30+.

Now compare how these Zesshi and Cure Elim are compared to other Dragonlords and Godkin:

======

The girl’s seductive lips formed into a curve, as though she were reading his mind. She was a cross-blooded child born of nigh-impossible odds, the Black Scripture’s Extra Seat, known as “Certain Death.” She was a guardian, responsible for defending the sanctum sanctorum of the Slaine Theocracy, the place where the relics of five gods were kept.

[V4]

The girl finally raised her head to look straight at him. Her mismatched eyes seemed to sparkle with what seemed like curiosity, delight, and battle-lust. “Who do you think is stronger, between myself and that Vampire?” He had expected that question, and met it with a prepared answer. “You, of course.” “Really…” The girl looked back at her toy, as though she had lost interest in the topic. Within his heart, he breathed a sigh of relief. “What a shame. I was thinking I might be able to taste defeat.” As he heard her mutter to herself, he wondered, Who would win, if they fought? He had exchanged blows with both the girl and the Vampire, and he felt that the Vampire was superior. However, that Vampire would not be able to defeat “Certain Death.” That was because of the difference in their panoplies. The Vampire looked to be completely unequipped, which was a weakness in powerful monsters. They placed great pride in their strength, which meant that they did not make use of potent magic items. In contrast, she was kitted out in the relics of the Six Gods, so he could conclude that she was more powerful. However, what if both sides were outfitted in items of similar power? Impossible. He immediately rejected the question which arose in his mind. After all, it was impossible to find gear which rivalled her panoply, which had been handed down from the gods. But what if it was possible? If that happened… the mightiest, never-defeated Extra Seat of the Slaine Theocracy might be vanquished. In other words, that moment would be the end of all hope, when the defenders of mankind were finally laid low. No, why was he assuming that she would be fighting by herself? While he could not compare to her, he was still an awakened God-kin who also possessed many magic items. That Vampire might be powerful, but it was alone, and if he could make use of his panoply, they should be able to deal with it. There was no way there could be more than one such powerful undead being.

[V4]

This is frequently misunderstood however, there are various guys in the New World who can defeat those around Level 50 right? In the case of those Dragonlords bearing the label True, (True Dragon Lords) even all members of the Pleiades would not be an opponent.

[V5+6AT]

“You really are strong.” He had to admit that even the phrase “mighty foe” was not enough to describe it. One could say it was an extremely tough opponent. The Brightness Dragon Lord was strong too, but Cure Elim was stronger still, and—

[KBA]

Cure Elim knew that foes of its level existed, but it had never fought them. In the past, it had avoided entities on the same level as Suzuki Satoru. That was not because it was weak, but because its intelligence had told it that they could not be beaten

If Cure Elim had some relevant experience, it would not have been reduced to this state. It might have been able to kill Suzuki Satoru

[KBA]

======

So why did Maruyama recycle Overlord as the name for this power level? As far as New Worlders are concerned, Overlord can be thought to mean 'one beyond Lords'. If history remembers the Dragonlords then we can suppose Overlord is meant to convey "one beyond even the Dragonlords of old".

The Lords of various races naturally tend to be more powerful at least. It is by virtue of something being excessively stronger that it is named an Overlord. The people we do see use this expression not to refer to undead Overlords  suggest it carries this connotation related to "power beyond anything in this world".

OVERLord = A Being Beyond Lords

So if people still remember the relative power of Dragon LORDS, then when something enters the Realm of Overlords, it's basically beyond any typical creature, even Dragon Lords. Basically, some tomfoolery is afoot with how strong these beings are. Like very special circumstances or writer bias or some bullshit. You get the idea.

Maruyama has actually been building up to this Power Level category for a long time. It wasn't just some asspull for stakes. GASP.

Zesshi is actually the first confirmed one.

 --------

This time, there was a new book-original character. So there is another, thus an Overlord of this world appears.

[V4AT]

“…I couldn’t hurt him even with a spell enhanced with Penetrate Magic…? This high-level demon is beyond my expectations, no, he might be beyond the Demon Gods! Could he be the King of the Demon Gods?!” Just adding the word “Lord” to a name did not make a monster stronger, but the more powerful members of a species often called themselves “Lords” or “Kings.” That was common knowledge in this world. Frankly speaking, humans were the only species who would crown their weaker members as kings

[V6]

In that case, what sort of being was the Elder Lich which she called “Master”? There was no doubt about it. He was beyond Hejinmal’s imagination. He was a being of absolute power ─ an Overlord. He had made the right choice

[V11]

He was the most fearsome and well-trained of the demi-humans. He was probably a Lord or some kind of similarly ranked special being.

[V12]

Even after killing an army of 10,000, Remedios could still be attacked in a moment of exhaustion and weakness and be killed by an average demihuman. Quantity had a quality of its own, after all. However, if there was some being who could overturn that logic ― Neia’s eyes went to the great ruler who still stood with his back to her. That person would be an absolute force. An entity who surpassed this world (Overlord). He was none other than the Sorcerer King, Ainz Ooal Gown.

This is the Side Story Chapter translated as Beyonders by Nigel. The official, Maruyama chosen English name for that chapter, referring to Cure Elim and Satoru is OVERLORDS.

-------

The kanji can be read literally as "transcendental beings" . The logic here appears to be "lords" are those who go beyond their race(or all races) in terms of power or ability normally in demihuman and heteromorph society. Given the Zesshi vs Captain suggestion and how Godkin fair against Dragonlords, the implication here being Overlords are beyond the Lords of any race. Perhaps that's why the Dragon Emperor wasn't called a Dragon Lord but a Dragon Emperor since he was a being on par or beyond Cure Elim's undead state while he was around compared to the average range of Dragon Lords.

Remember how Tsa is considered the highest class of Dragon Lord? But he was only rated around the 80s in his R/C armor action figure ? Well if we assume parity with his own strength, that would mean the strongest Dragon Lords were only around the 80s(these are what are probably called OVERED DRAGONS plateau at ). It's only the freaks of nature, the Overlords that push into the 90s (like Cure Elim or the Dragon Emperor). And so it's implied Zesshi as well.

Think of it like this: they're like Super Outliers for the New World. There isn't too many of them but they're one step beyond or have transcended all the other strong people. Literally, they are OVER the lords of the New World in terms of Power Level category. That's how Ziggy has come to see it at least.

That's why the Dragon Lords lost, when Players came (people in the Overlord power level) there were not enough Overlord Dragons to oppose them or compensate for technological differences in gear. As most of their strongest members were only at the OVERED power level (one step below Overlords of the New World).

======

“Yes. I believe that he is a tank whose level was around 90. That was because magic was generally ineffective against him, which was why I had judged him to be of that level.” “I see. A strong foe. Hmmm… huh? What’s wrong, Albedo? Do you have another opinion?” “Yes, my opinion differs from Pandora’s Actor’s. I do not believe him to be that strong. Of course, I only landed two strikes on him, so I could not make as accurate of a judgment, but he felt like a tank of around… level 80 or so.” Given that they were sure that he was a tank, then Albedo’s opinion as a tank should be much more accurate than his own. “I see. Although I was of the opinion that Pandora’s Actor, who was locked in combat with him for longer, would be able to make the more accurate judgment, Shalltear who had been observing the battle alongside me had estimated a similar range to Albedo’s. Around level 85 or so. Given that, it appears that there is a need to call Cocytus and Sebas over.”

[V14]

“As expected of you, the strongest Dragon Lord in the world.”

“I don’t think so myself. There are many out there who are stronger than I am. Hmmm… I can win against the Sorcerer King because I happen to counter him.”

The strongest class of Dragon Lord

A non-racially based power level chart using only official terms would look like the following:

==============================================

Level 90+ - Transcendants / Beyonders ( Overlords)  ; 超越者

Level 80+ -

Level 70+ -

Level 60+ -

Level 50+ -

Level 40+ - Outliers;  逸脱

Level 30+ - Heroes; 英雄

===============================================

Relative Power Levels using historical and cultural examples:

Level 90+ - Gods; Dragon Emperor

Level 80+ -   Strongest Class Dragon Lords

Level 70+ -

Level 60+ -

Level 50+ -  Landfall; Strongest Class Night Liches

Level 40+ - Average  Demon God, "Dragon Lords"

Level 30+ - Strongest Members In History of Certain Races

Where Godkin falls is open to interpretation so they're excluded for now. They should be in the 60-80 ranges however.

In summation:

Whenever a New World being is referred to as an "Overlord" it's in a specific context. There is one way to view it as related but it's circumstantial at best and not following the primary theme of the Dragonlord Job class names. A New World "Overlord" is a power level, no different from the realm of Heroes or Outliers. That's how Maruyama seems to use it at least. 'Zesshi' was the first to receive that designation and Cure Elim is the second. Officially. WoG. Pick your poison. So far, this power level is implied to be superior to the typical Awakened Player or Dragonlord which those two were said to be comparable in the past. Just like how Evileye had freak OC Donut Steel circumstances to put her in a power level higher than the typical Outlier or Hero(the Pleiades power level), 'Zesshi' and 'Elder Coffin' both seem to have special circumstances as well compared to the typical version of their respective 'power level' of Awakened Player Descendant and Dragonlord.
Why or how the Dragon Emperor reached a level at or above Cure Elim remains unexplored. New World "Overlords" appear to be abnormalities so far as things should be. Evileye had a strong pedigree in addition to getting more power (presumably) from becoming undead. That applies to Cure Elim too. Zesshi appears to be awakening two separate bloodlines, Godkin and ancestral elf. Why's it got to be similar to other things in how it's named? Go, ask Maruyama. He pulls this shit all the time. "Zaryusu's a hero but not that kind of hero" and what not. TALENT and talent (admittedly that makes more sense in the raws than in any attempt to localize it).

==========

Bonus(Corollary for anyone that gives a fuck):

OVERED Dragon and Overlords of the New World

So we've established that Overlord is a power level in the New World, yes?

If you look at the character sheet for Cure Elim for job classes, you might actually notice something if you believe in the Level Order Acquisition theory - Overed Dragon might actually link to the New World Overlord power level .

-------------------------------------------------------

Primitive Caster Level 10

Draconic Necromancer Level 7

World Connector Level 9

 Overed Dragon  Level 10

 Soul Blasphemer Level 7

----------------------------------------------------

If you generalize the structure of these supposedly wild magic classes, you'll see you have in sequence:

Primitive Caster 10 levels

Draconic XXXX 10 Levels

World Connector 10 Levels

Overed Dragon 10 Levels

Soul XXXXX 10 Levels

So if a Dragon Lord was acquiring these classes in order, Overed Dragons would be Level 81-90 assuming no deviations in taking other classes early and starting the wild magic progression at Level 50. Do we know if they didn't acquire levels earlier while getting racial levles? Not for certain. Likewise, we can see people can skip maxing out classes to start the next class in a progression.

The idea is that Overed Dragons are basically the 80+ Level Dragon Lords. If New World Overlords are the 90+ Beyonders, then Overeds are a step below.

Which coincidentally matches the entire idea behind DMMO vs VRMMO: Maruyama removed a letter to indicate that DMMO's are inferior to VRMMOs. The same logic applies here as Overlord and Overed are actually only one sound off from each other in Japanese.

OBARODO - Overlord

OBADO  - Overed

So there is a correlation in the projected strength of Overed Dragons and New World Overlords.

---------

Yggdrasil is not a VRMMO but rather a DMMO. Because the performance of the game is not up to the standards of virtual reality in the general meaning so it was named to be one letter less to indicate it is a step below. It is said that it would take another half century to reach the level of VR.

[ARC]

Overlord - オーバーロード

Overed - オーバード

Overed Dragon - オーバードドラゴン

=========

So if we update the absolute power level chart:

Level 90+ - Transcendants / Beyonders ( Overlords)  ; 超越者-オーバーロード

Level 80+ -  OVERED beings - オーバード

Level 70+ -

Level 60+ -

Level 50+ -

Level 40+ - Outliers;  逸脱

Level 30+ - Heroes; 英雄

======

Here Overed refers to not only Overed Dragons but the idea of something OVERED is a step below a OVERLORD using Maruyama's insane troll logic.

Were you entertained? Did you take anything away from all this effort?

N-No...?
